The Expert visited the Central American region to learn about the problems of youth violence there, where he met adolescents and various government and civil society representatives. He visited the region in his joint capacity as Independent Expert for the UN Secretary General’s Study on Violence Against Children, and of Rapporteur on Child Rights at the Inter- American Commission on Human Rights.
