6Meeting with the Deputy SG of the Council of Europe and the new Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Strasbourg, France.

Hosted by the Council of Europe, the IE met with Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, and Thomas Hammarberg, the new European Commissioner for Human Rights, to discuss collaboration with the Study, and follow up plans for Europe in particular.

5Meeting at the British Parliament, London, United Kingdom.

The civil society network ‘Children are Unbeatable! Alliance’ organized a meeting on ‘Ending Legalised Violence against Children’, at the House of Commons, British Parliament. Prof. Pinheiro made a key note statement. Annette Brooke MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Spokesperson on Children chaired the event, other speakers included Peter Newell (member of the Editorial Board for the Study and member of the Alliance) and Mary Marsh, Director and Chief Executive of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. 5NGO Advisory Panel meeting, London, United Kingdom.

The NGO Advisory Panel provided feedback about the process, and presented recommendations for the Study report. Among other topics the NGOs highlighted the importance oh the participation of children and of a high level focal point within the UN system to globally foster the recommendations implementation and follow up.
