30Launching of the “Keeping Children Safe - Child Protection Toolkit”, London

The Keeping Children Safe Coalition launched a set of tools to help organizations working with child protection. The Independent Expert signed the preface of the toolkit and participated in the launching hosted by Save the Children, UK. Based on agreed standards and on the accumulated experience of organizations working with children, the toolkit aims at ensuring that agencies and their staff dealing with children are able to fulfill their roles and responsibilities to protect children. 25-28MENA Regional Consultation on Violence against Children Follow-Up, Cairo

The Independent Expert participated in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional Consultation on Violence against Children Follow-Up Consultation held between 25th and 28th March in Cairo, Egypt. The meeting focused on following up the recommendations and findings of the 2005 MENA Consultation and, among various decisions, the participants discussed the establishment of a special follow-up mechanism in the region to promote policies to respond and prevent violence against children.
