.The present research sought to gain an insight into the problem of violence against children in Maldives, with a focus on child sexual abuse. The research was conducted in three stages. Stage 1 involved the collection of information from a wide range of sources as well as interviews with professionals relevant to the issue of child abuse. Stage 2 of the research sought to build upon the findings of the first stage through the collection of qualitative information on children’s and young people’s experiences of violence in Maldives, again with a focus on sexual abuse.
Stage 3 was conducted as an extension of Stage 2 of the research. Stage 3 sought to address some of the limitations identified in Stage 2 of the research.
