World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT). Analysis of the Socio-Economic Dimensions of Violence, Including Torture, Through a Human Rights Perspective: the Relationship Between Socio-Economic and Institutional Factors and Violence

This document provides an outline of a study on socio-economic dimensions of violence by OMCT. The study uncovers key socio-economic and institutional factors that cause some to be more vulnerable to violence (ie. Those from a low socio-economic class). It looks ONLY at non-state actors such as private individuals, companies, criminal gangs, etc. The study has both an international and national component, providing case studies for places like Uzbekistan, South Africa, Egypt, Nepal, and Argentina. It also provides a framework for the International and National analysis.
